Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) Overview

  • Full Form: Railway Recruitment Board
  • Purpose: RRBs are government organizations under the Ministry of Railways, tasked with recruiting employees for various positions in Indian Railways.
  • Headquarters: New Delhi
  • Regional Boards: There are 21 RRBs across India.

History of RRB

  • Established: 1945
  • Role: Initially formed to oversee the recruitment process for Indian Railways. Over time, RRB has expanded its responsibilities to include conducting examinations, recruiting staff, and providing training for new hires.

Responsibilities of RRB

  1. Recruitment of personnel for Indian Railways.
  2. Conducting examinations for various posts like Assistant Loco Pilot, Junior Engineer, Group D positions, Ticket Collector, Clerk, and Translator.
  3. Training new recruits to prepare them for their roles in the railway system.

Eligibility for RRB Jobs

  • Educational Qualification:
    • Graduation degree in any stream from a recognized university for most exams.
    • Specific posts may have additional educational or technical requirements.

 

Selection Process for RRB Jobs

  1. Notification Release: Official notifications for exams are posted on the RRB’s official website.
  2. Application Process: Candidates must fill out the online application form during the designated period.
  3. Admit Card: Released a few weeks before the exam; candidates must download it to appear for the test.
  4. Examinations: Conducted in multiple stages:
    • Stage 1: Computer-Based Test (CBT)
    • Stage 2: Interview or additional tests (specific to certain roles)
  5. Result Announcement: Results are posted on the official RRB website. Candidates can check their results using their roll number and date of birth.
  6. Final Merit List: A merit list is published based on exam performance. Candidates on the list are invited for document verification.

  2. Stage 2 CBT: Role-specific technical subjects.

  5. Medical Fitness Test: Checks vision, hearing, and general fitness for train operation.

RRB JE (Junior Engineer)

The RRB JE Exam recruits for technical positions that require engineering or scientific backgrounds.
